What Is Reflexology?
Reflexology Calgary – Foot Reflexology
Calgary Reflexology Stimulates Reflex Areas on the Feet Which Correspond to Every Part of Your Body – Organs, Glands, Muscles and Nerves.
An example of a reflex is when the doctor taps the knee and the foot jerks. This shows that touching one part of the body has an effect on another part of the body. When these reflex areas are stimulated, the body relaxes. When the body is relaxed, it heals and balances itself.
Reflexology Calgary activates the healing powers within the body. The healing goes where it is needed and occurs on all levels: mind, body and soul.
History of Reflexology
A form of treatment using pressure points was known in India and China 5,000 years ago. There is actual evidence it was practised as far back as 2,330 BC as indicated by a wall painting in the tomb of Ankhmahor (highest official after the king) and is known as the physician’s tomb in Egypt.
The scientific basis to reflexology began in the 1890’s. Sir Henry Head, Sir Charles Sherrington and Dr. Alfdor Cornelius proved there exists a relationship between the skin and internal organs, nervous system, muscles and circulatory system.
In the 1920’s, an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, Dr. William Fitzgerald developed Zone Therapy as it was known then. Also in the 20’s, a physiotherapist, Eunice Ingham, developed and taught Reflexology as we know it today.
